The Biograph Location Wagon

In order to transport its 250-pound camera and its accessories, including film stock, cables, and other pieces of equipment, Biograph built what is probably the first motion-picture location vehicle. This photo was taken in Boston in 1895. Seated in the wagon is G.W. (“Billy”) Bitzer, who joined the company in 1894 and soon became its leading cameraman.
